History & Profile

Beutel Goodman Private Client Group (PCG) a distinct operating division of Beutel Goodman, created in 1979, manages $1.4 Billion in investment assets on behalf of Individuals, Estates, Trusts, Foundations and First Nations. Our dedication to a strict Value Investment philosophy has provided excellent long term-returns with low levels of risk for our clients, some of whom have been with us for over 25 years. We focus exclusively on providing investment counsel to our clients. We have maintained a concentrated client base with about 100 segregated portfolio clients and 100 pooled fund clients. The ratio of client to portfolio manager facilitates superior attention to research analysis, portfolio management and client service. We manage investments in either private pooled funds ($250,000 and greater) or in segregated portfolios ($2 million and greater).

The PCG was founded in 1979 by Greg Latremoille (President of the division). He was joined by Stephen Clements in 1983 and Steven Smith in 2001.

Investment Philosophy

Beutel Goodman has adhered to the Value Investment style since the firm’s inception in 1967. This style is particularly appropriate for individuals, foundations, First Nations and not-for-profit organizations focused on capital preservation and long-term investment performance with low levels of risk.

The Beutel Goodman Private Client Group utilizes the deep analytical resources of the firm to manage the requirements of our Private Clients. 11 Equity analysts and 5 Fixed Income specialists provide comprehensive coverage of North American and International markets.

Servicing & Reporting

A written report is disseminated quarterly. The quarterly written report consists of general commentary, an economic review, a portfolio review, a portfolio valuation and a transaction summary. Some clients receive certain reports monthly (e.g. transaction reports). Some of our clients specify customized reporting. We are happy to accommodate specific requests for reporting.
